Football match between Southall FC team and the Gurkha Brigade team (winners of last year’s Gurkha Cup), will take place on Saturday 21 May.

 

LOCATION: Bedfont Sports Club | Hatton Road, Bedfont, Middlesex TW14 9JR 

GATES OPEN: 2pm

KICK-OFF: 3pm

TICKETS: £10 for adults | under 12s free 

 

Southall Football Club

Southall Football Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Southeast of England, founded in March 1871. Quickly established as a major club locally, their most successful period was between 1920’s - 1960’s, when thousands regularly attended - producing several Amateur Internationals and players that went on to join professional clubs. In late 1990’s, Southall won the Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 title in 2017-18, their first championship for 91 years. They were promoted to the Combined Counties Premier Division and for the 2021-22 season, the team were placed in the new Combined Counties Premier Division North for their 150th Anniversary season. As they, finished in 2nd place, they were promoted again Southall will be competing at Step 4 in 2022-23.

 

Queen’s Gurkha Signals football team

Since 1815, as part of the British Army, the Gurkha regiments have been supporting the British Crown for over 200 years. The Queen’s Gurkha Signals (QGS) is a regular unit of the Royal Corps of Signals, one of the combat support arms and formed during the Malayan Emergency to support the 17th Gurkha Division, part of the Brigade of Gurkhas. The Queen’s Gurkha Signals football team are the Nepal Cup champions for the last two consecutive years, an annual inter-unit football competition within the Brigade, which dates back to 1948 when it was first presented by the Prime Minister of Nepal. The QGS team looking for their hat trick this year in July 2022.
